Catherine is a lifelong resident of Cabarrus County growing up in the Odell Community. She still lives there today in her great-grandfather's home on the family farm. Catherine is a mother of two children, who are both CCS graduates and are active in the Cabarrus community today.

"My father was Chairman of Cabarrus County Commissioners in the early 80s, he helped build Cabarrus to what it is today. That sense of civil service has always been a part of my life- first as an educator, then as an advocate, and now in my passion to serve on the School Board."

With 35 years of experience as a teacher and school counselor in CCS, Catherine has the experience to know how to meet the needs of students and parents. During her years with CCS, she served as Chair for MTSS/504’s, and served as an LEA (Local Educational Agency) for the exceptional children’s program.

In 2015, Catherine was awarded the Impact Through Education Award from CCS for her service as a school counselor.

After retirement, Catherine began working with parents who were struggling to navigate the complexities of the public school system and began Moore Advocacy for Children.

"I knew firsthand how difficult the school system could be for parents and getting help for their children. My heart for service led me to start Moore Advocacy to help guide parents through the process and help students succeed."
